Do you want to learn more about fighting racism in America but don’t know where to start?
Do you want to ask questions or speak up about race but feel anxious about saying the wrong thing?
That’s how I felt when my eyes first began opening to the realities of racism in our country, about 25 years ago.
Before then, I lived my life as a “nice” white person. I was unaware of the ongoing oppression and suffering of people of color around me and of my role in the perpetuation of that oppression. I thought we were “over” racism in America. How wrong I was.
Over the last 25 years, I’ve invested a lot of time listening to and learning from people of color…not only in the context of personal relationships, but also from various written and media sources.
My goal with this website is to help provide a road map of sorts for my fellow white people—to point you to some of the resources that helped me in my own journey of learning about racism in America.
People of color have been speaking, writing, and teaching about racism and white supremacy in America for centuries. There are so many amazing resources out there! I’ve tried to curate and organize these resources into a series of main topics I call Big Ideas. The Big Ideas collectively form a sort of primer on important anti-racism principles.
[ETA: This website is a work in progress, and sadly, I’ve had to press pause on adding new topics and resources. But hopefully, there’s enough already here to get you started.]
I’m so glad you’re here!
